The best pictures are almost always the result of serendipity. I snapped this image as a server was setting the table at lunchtime at Lo Sereno, a minimalist boutique hotel in Troncones, a little surfing village about an hour north of Zihuatanejo on Mexico’s pacific coast. Funny enough, this lunch wasn’t being set up for me. Rather, it was for chef Miguel Baltazar, who at the time was head chef at Thompson Zihuatanejo — with whom I had just had a photo shoot the day prior. Neither of us knew then that we’d both be at Lo Sereno the next day.
This is such a great little, off-the-grid hotel. No frills. Fantastic design. Charming owner. Terrific service. Good air-conditioning. A great beach. And delicious, unpretentious food.
