The 159-room hotel upstairs opened in 2012 following a four-year transformation (by David Chipperfield architects) of the historic National Sporting Club, the private members’ playground that had occupied the upper floors for more than a century. The hotel’s evolution continues: The Café Royal Grill reclaimed its heritage name (and its red-leather chairs, too) and relaunched last year with acclaimed chef Kevin Gratton now at the helm. And just like that, the grill is back! The hotel’s a stunner, too.
