Don’t get me wrong, I love a great Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. And regards to the Gino’s East vs Giordano’s/Lou Malnati’s crust debate, I proudly champion the former. But Chicago’s pizza scene has changed a lot in recent years, and that’s very exciting. Case in point: Lettuce Entertain You’s newish Pizzeria Portofino, which makes incredible hand-pulled, thin-crust pizzas. Specifically, the charred pepperoni with hot honey is incredible. And the riverfront location is fantastic — such a scene, too. Highly recommended.
