Just Announced: 60th Annual SoCal Journalism Awards!

The Los Angeles Press Club just announced the winners of the Southern California Journalism Awards, and I’m thrilled to have won Best Food Criticism for my reviews in the Orange County Register for the second year in a row. It’s always an honor just to be considered, but admittedly way more fun to win. Congratulations to all the amazing finalists and award recipients. Here’s the full list of awards. And here are two of the reviews that got me into the competition this year.

Maybe I’m biased because I grew up eating this kind of sausage from the old German smokehouses in the Texas Hill Country, but I believe the dry hunter sausages from Central Europe — landjäeger, gyulai, cabanossi and the like — are some of the best charcuterie in the world.
