Winners were announced today for the pdn Taste – 2016 Food Photography Awards, and I just won in two categories! The Taste competition, organized by Photo District News, is the most prestigious food photography contest in America. This a huge honor, as there were hundreds (thousands?) of stunning entries.

I am honored to be recognized alongside the other winners, representing the best food photographers in the world. I’m also very happy to see among the winners (again) this year my longtime favorite photographers, Peden + Munk. Taylor Peden and Jen Munkvold used to shoot my restaurant reviews for Angeleno magazine. They won this year for their gorgeous work at Bon Appetit.

I won in the professional division for Destination/Travel, a category devoted to culinary-focused travel photography, for my images of the food scene in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

I also won in the professional Social Media category for a selection of snaps from my Instagram feed. Are you following me on Instagram?

Check out all the winners at the pdn Taste winner’s gallery.

For more travel inspiration and photos, I invite you to follow me and join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
