Photo of the Week: The Agrarian Kitchen, Tasmania

  • September 24, 2016
  • Brad A. Johnson

The Agrarian Kitchen is a literal farm-to-table cooking school in rural Tasmania, 45 minutes northwest of Hobart. Pretty much everything that makes it into the kitchen here comes from the surrounding farm the same day: chickens, ducks, hogs, fruits, vegetables, you name it. This is the real deal. And it’s not for the squeamish, especially on the days when the menu involves a freshly butchered hog.

The state-of-the-art kitchen includes a beautiful wood-fired oven. A wide range of classes includes pasta making, pastry arts, poultry dressing, whole hog butchery and more, with some classes spanning the entire weekend. There’s really nothing else quite like The Agrarian Kitchen anywhere in the world.
