Beef ribs, sausage and brisket at Bad to the Bone in San Juan Capistrano. Notice the tiny ration of sauce. If you want more, you have to get up and request it.

Great news. I’ve just been nominated for a Food Writing Award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. This is one of the industry’s most prestigious honors, and I am thrilled to be included among such great company. The final results will be announced in April in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, I’ve also received a Finalist prize from the North American Travel Journalists Association for my article about dining aboard the Crystal Symphony. This award is in the category of “self-illustrated article,” which recognizes the combination of both writing and photography by the same individual.
Here’s the news brief from the Orange County Register regarding the IACP nomination and the full list of nominees from IACP. And here’s the recent news release about the NATJA Awards.
I invite you to follow me and join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
