Best thing I ate this week: Braised pork shank and grits

Pork shank at Grits in Fullerton (Photo by Brad A. Johnson)

This was easily the best thing I ate this week. It was also my favorite photo for the week. This is the braised pork shank from the breakfast menu at Grits in Fullerton. It’s hard to see from this perspective just how large this thing is, but it’s enough to feed two people. I shot this for a story I wrote for the Register, looking at several new restaurants that have opened lately and serve only for breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. This place might eventually serve dinner after they get their license to serve beer and wine.

To view more of my work for the Register, check out the archives. I also invite you to follow me and join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
