Quick Look: Pantelleria, Italy

I just returned from Italy where my first stop was Pantelleria, a small volcanic island located halfway between Sicily and Tunisia in the Mediterranean Sea. (It’s actually closer to North Africa than to Sicily, but it belongs to Italy.) It feels like a cross between Greece and Morocco instead of Italy. There’s a strong Arab influence in the architecture and cuisine, and the locals are just as likely to speak French as Italian. Georgio Amani owns a house here, as does Gerard Depardieu.
